Voter Registration

MAIL REGISTRATION    Sec. 5-210 (3)

Applications must be postmarked not later than Friday, October 10th 2008 and received by a board of elections not later than Wednesday, October 15th 2008 to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

 

IN PERSON REGISTRATION    Secs. 5-210, 5-211, 5-212

You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the November general election, your application must be received no later than Friday, October 10th 2008 except, if you have been honorably discharged from the military or have become a naturalized citizen since October 10th, you may register in person at the board of elections up until Friday, October 24th.

 

CHANGE OF ADDRESS    Sec. 5-208(3)

Notices of change of address from registered voters received by Wednesday, October 15th by a county board of elections must be processed and entered in the records in time for the general election.

2008 DEADLINES FOR GENERAL ELECTION    Sec. 8-400

 

October 28 --   Last day to postmark application or letter of application for ballot.   Sec. 8-400 (2) (c).

 

November 3 --   Last day to apply in person for ballot.   Sec. 8-400 (2) (c).

 

November 3 --   Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the board of elections no later than November 11th.   Sec. 8-412(1)

 

November 3 --  Last day to deliver ballot in person to the board of elections.   Sec. 8-412 (1).

If you are unable to vote in person on Election Day, you can vote by absentee ballot.  The deadline for postmarking your absentee ballot application is Tuesday, October 28, 2008.  You can submit an absentee ballot application in person at the Ulster County Board of Elections as late as Monday, November 3, 2008.  

After the Board of Elections receives your absentee ballot application, they will mail a ballot to you at the address that you designate in the application.  This ballot must be completed and postmarked by Monday, November 3, 2008
